A leading company in the production and distribution of components and products for refrigeration and air conditioning, Rivacold ha added natural refrigerant systems to its portfolio some time ago, which ensure a reduced environmental impact in terms of direct and indirect emissions.
The environmental vocation of the production choices is also translated into the management of the company, with voluntary measures to reduce its carbon footprint. In 2011, the company began to install photovoltaic solar panels on the roofs of its production site in the Marche region to produce electricity. As of today, 18,000 sqm of panels have been installed, producing a total of 1,100,000 kWh/year. A number that is equivalent to removing 25 cars from the road each year or planting 15,000 trees. As Michele Pallini – Marketing Manager of Rivacold – explains:
“There are ten divisions at our headquarters. The roofs of four of them have already been fitted with solar panels. In the future we plan to install it on the roofs of the remaining divisions, and we already have a new 350,000 kW/h per year project in the pipeline. In addition, our natural refrigerant products, compared to traditional ones, allow us to save an average of about 6 tons / year of indirect CO2 emissions, i.e. due only to energy efficiency. Therefore, with the energy we produce from the sun, it is as if we were to replace about 100 inefficient plants on the market every year with our Rivacold plants“.
But that’s not all. By the end of the year, ten diesel cars in the company fleet will be replaced with hybrid cars. In the years to come, there are plans to replace all the cars in the fleet, out of a total of 100 cars, which, in terms of annual mileage, are well suited to the transition to the hybrid, thus eliminating 30 diesel cars from the road and replacing them with others that, in part, will run “emission free”.
